![]() ![]() I’m hoping that it’ll be less noticeable once it’s properly racked. It’s loud enough to be an issue for my environment. Loud enough to be heard when playing at home tone volume levels. When I switched the power amp on, first thing I noticed is that the internal fan is loud. If it was all mounted into a rack, I wouldn’t want to be moving it around much. The SYN-1 enclosures aren’t exactly featherweights either. I have a lot more to say about it than I expected to. The top cab is a V112-C with a G12M-65 Creamback, and the bottom cab is a V112-V with a V30. They’re sat on top of a pair of Victory Amps 1×12 cabs. 1 x Metropoulos Metro Plex preamp module. Now that I’m back at the Hermit’s Cave, time to unbox everything … just to make sure it survived the journey, right? □ I’ve been away for work this last week, and whilst I over the other side of the country, I managed to pick up a set of Synergy Amps modules, enclosures and the power amp. Synergy TDLX - independent EQ, blue Twin, red DeluxeĨ.This is a first look at the Synergy Amps system now that it’s home, where I can hear it through my cabs and with my guitars. Synergy OS - shared EQ added gain stage and presence for red channelħ. Friedman BE-BB - independent EQ Buxom Betty blue and Brown Eye red channelsĦ. ENGL Savage - shared EQ contour switch on blue more gain and different voicing on redĥ. Bogner Überschall - independent EQ Twin Jet blue channel Rev2 red channelģ. Bogner Ecstasy - independent EQ Ecstacy Blue and Ecstasy Red channels from original ampĢ. Modules definitely with two different channels:ġ. OK, so based on all the feedback (thank you!), here's what I have: The other modules I have are WAY different on the two: Will be interesting to run the Syn XTC into the power section. The Bogner 3534 I am getting is like that on the Red and Blue even though it is a three channel amp. There's definitely some merit to a single channel amp like an 8000 or plexi style amp that has a second gain and volume, so they have their place. I'm really glad most of the newer modules are making better use of the dual channel capabilities. I do have to admit it was my first module and absolutely worth every penny. I'd like to see a redo of the SLO in spite of it being a must have even in its current form. The SLO module is sort of like the Avenger amp from Soldano which is a single amp with just the high gain channel. The SLO could benefit from a proper two channel with EQ treatment, although like the Savage the gain is the star of the show so I dial in the red channel and setup a crunch on blue with the gain setting pulled back. Sounds really good with the gain down and up so the two channel concept works great on it with a shared EQ. IIRC that is a single channel AMP, IRL, anyway. The Red on the 800 is supposed to be a little Hot Rodded according to the manual but it is not much more than the other, TBH, they felt pretty much exactly the same to me when I dialed that one in. The other dual channels I have (800, SLO) they sound pretty much exactly the same. You can totally hear it on the red channel when you flip it, it's not subtle. Also, the contour switch absolutely affects both channels. that module really wants dual EQs or a post eq on one channel but not the other for maximal effect. To the point where the shared EQ does present a little bit of a challenge, although I have managed get it where I am happy with both I am optimizing for the Red channel because the gain channel is the big ticket on that amp. They are both aggressive with the gain up but they do not only vary in gain, the one (Red) has a way different frequency response with much more upper mid bite. Click to expand.FWIW, on the Savage the two channels are wildly different in voicing.
